Late April Finnish scrapbookers got together in Laukaa, central Finland in the largest annual crop, Passion for Scrapbooking. This is an event you don't want to miss; great company, good shopping and scrapbooking until 1 a.m. - sounds good, doesn't it!

This year we had the pleasure to get two teachers from Belgium: Birgit Koopsen and Marsha Valk who both held three courses during the weekend. I had met Birgit already in Scraptastic 2011 and was really looking forward to the workshops. And I have to say that all the three I had chosen were just superb.

Blossoms of color focused on getting familiar with mists, stencils and gesso. The flower embellishments in the kit were plain white and we colored them with Glmmer MIsts. In addition, we were shown how to arrange embellishments in clusters; a technique I'm always having difficulties with!

Blossom of color -kurssilla opimme käyttämään suihkemaaleja eli mistejä.

A few days before the crop we got the unfortunate news that Revlie Schuit was not able to attend due to her medical condition. However, we were really lucky to get Marsha Valk, a super talented scrapbooker and photographer, to replace her. In addition, in the workshop kit we all got Revlie's hand written greetings with crocheted embellishments (superb!) and sent her back real-time pictures and get-well-soon greetings over the internet :)

Lauantai-iltana osallistuin myös Birgitin maskaus-kurssille, josta laitan terveisiä myöhemmin.

On Saturday evening I attended "For the love of masking" workshop by Birgit. I will post pictures from that workshop a bit later.

On Sunday I had finally time to really mingle with my scrapbooking friends and to sit down at my crop desk for some self-paced scrapbooking. I was able to finish one lay-out and was quite happy about the outcome!

Sijoituin kisassa kolmanneksi, mutta harmi kirjan katoamisesta toki laimentaa menestyksen tuomaa iloa.

This year again I participated in the 'Scrapbooker of the Year' competition and was happy to make it to the team of six finalists! In previous years the finalists were asked to create a layout in the crop but this year we got the materials and instructions via mail some weeks before the crop weekend. It was gret to see how all finalists made very different maze books using the same materials and basic instructions. I finished my book the evening before the due date and had no time to take any pictures from it. I thought I could take them after the crop weekend - but guess what happened!

The crop participants as well as other hotel and spa guests could browse through the mazes and vote for their favourites during the weekend. Early Saturday afternoon I got the sad news that my book had disappeared from the display desk! I looked for it all over the place but could not find it. It was gone for good.
I'm sure none of the crop participants had taken it as we all understand and appreciate the value of hand crafted thingies. Furthermore, as the maze was filled with my personal photos so for sure it did not have any true value for anyone else. I came third in the competition but due to the unfortunately disappearance of my maze I did not have too festive feelings :(

Harmituksesta huolimatta viikonloppu oli onnistunut ja antoisa. Lisää tunnelmapaloja voit lukea osallistuneiden blogeista sekä mm. Marshan blogikirjoituksesta ja Emmon Fiskarettes-postauksesta. Ensi vuonna tavataan taas, eikö!

Despite of the unfortunate episode the 'Passin for Scrapbooking 2012'  crop weekend was absolutely great. Have a look what Marsha wrote about the weekend in her blog; there are a lot of great photos!
We meet again next year, right?
